I have lived in Naples, FL since 2020 and I joined the LWVCC in the summer of 2022. When Dobbs overturned Roe v Wade, I knew I had to find an organization that was committed to action. I have been continually impressed with the way the LWVCC approaches issues from a point of advocacy and education.
I am fortunate to have had a 36+ year career in public education as a teacher and an administrator. The bulk of my career was as an administrator where I focused on professional learning as a way to grow the adults in the organization to best support the students. As a leader, I felt it was my purpose to model learning and growth in order to best help each person become the best version of themself. Additionally, as a building administrator, I was responsible for hiring, coaching, working through issues, evaluating and making decisions regarding employment.
Throughout my career and subsequent years, I have served as a leader in multiple settings. I have had significant training in leadership characteristics and philosophies. I am fortunate that I have reached a point in my life where I am able to share what I have learned and support organizations in our community. I am a learner and am constantly seeking new opportunities to learn and grow.
When I talk with people who are curious about our league, I always stress our commitment to remaining nonpartisan while we work to educate voters and advocate on issues. Additionally, I speak so highly about our members. I enthusiastically talk about the intelligent group of members who come together to help make our world a better place.
