Our Mission
The Membership Team’s mission is to promote the recruitment, engagement, and satisfaction of the League’s members.
A vibrant and representative League requires a deliberate commitment to welcoming diverse members across generations and backgrounds. By amplifying more voices and perspectives, we create an inclusive environment that respects our history and fuels fresh ideas, ultimately strengthening our ability to serve our communities effectively. Diversity is not just an aspiration; it's the foundation of our impact.
What the Membership Team Does
- Organizes events such as new member coffees, Wine and Wisdom (social gatherings, sometimes with a topic), and the “League 101” class (a prerequisite for those who participate in the League Leadership Program).
- Contacts new members to welcome them to the League and checks in with those who have been members for six months to see how their experience has been.
- Hosts a New Member table at the monthly general meetings.
- Creates outreach strategies to reach potential members, including underrepresented groups such as people who are not retired, men (yes, the League welcomes men!), and all races and sexual orientations.
- Contacts those whose memberships have expired to encourage renewal and help us determine how we can improve member satisfaction.
- Reports to the Board regarding membership statistics.
- Delivers name tags to new members.
- Conducts periodic surveys of the membership.
