The speaker at the February 18, 2026 meeting of the Gun Violence Prevention subcommittee meeting will be Thomas Gabor, Ph.D. He will be speaking about the fact that gun violence is the leading cause of deaths among children. His bio follows: Thomas Gabor received his Ph.D. from Ohio State University and was a Professor of Criminology for 30 years at the University of Ottawa in Canada. He has published over 200 books, book chapters, and articles. Recent books on gun violence include award-winning Gun Violence 101 with Violet Lemay, American Carnage with Fred Guttenberg, Confronting Gun Violence in America, Carnage, and Enough. He has served as an international consultant and expert witness on gun violence and is a member of the Who’s Who in Canada and Criminology. He is a frequent public speaker, has appeared on national and local media, and has briefed the White House and House Democrats on gun policy.
