About this event

What Would Marjory Do?
The importance of advancing the environmental legacy of
Marjory Stoneman Douglas in Florida today

Presented by

Headshot of Eve Sample

Eve Samples
Executive Director
Friends of the Everglades

Eve Samples will discuss the history of Marjory and Friends of the Everglades, as well as current issues facing Florida: the US Farm Bill, the upcoming Legislative Session in Tallahassee, and ongoing Everglades restoration projects.

In 2020, Eve joined Friends of the Everglades, a nonprofit founded in 1969 by Marjory Stoneman Douglas. She recognized an opportunity to meld her passion for environmental journalism with Friends’ legacy of grassroots advocacy and education. She has been recognized for both her journalism and advocacy work with awards including the 2018 Susan B. Anthony Award from the League of Women Voters of Martin County.
