Evidence of the ‘Slippery Slope’ to Censorship in Collier County Public Schools

March 7 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

The League of Women Voters of Collier County (LWVCC), Education Committee will host a community presentation by Dr. Eric Otto.

Dr. Eric Otto is associate professor of Environmental Humanities at Florida Gulf Coast University. His research into local and state-level K-12 textbook and library censorship efforts was recently published as: “Evidence for the ‘Slippery Slope’ to Censorship: The Story from Florida and Collier County” in the American Library Association’s Journal of Intellectual Freedom & Privacy.

This is the second in a series of three community presentations for the 2019 season. The series is designed to motivate citizens to gain a better understanding of issues relating to k-12 education in the State of Florida and, in particular, Collier County so that they may become better informed and dedicated to voting in local school board elections.

Open to the public; No Charge for the event.

Seating is limited. Register early.
