The Contest

League of Women Voters of Collier County (LWVCC) member Gail DiMaggio, a retired teacher, suggested that the League consider a project encouraging students to get involved in the political process. As a result, the LWVCC Young Voters Advertising Contest was born.

LWVCC invited high school students to create an advertisement that inspired young people to register and vote. The choice of medium was left to the students.

The LWVCC Ad Committee selected the best submissions and a distinguished panel of judges made the final selections. The best submission from each of the participating schools received a $100 prize. All other finalists received a $50 prize.

The League is grateful for the generous support of the judges, sponsors and teachers who made this contest possible. Their names are listed at the bottom of this page.

All winning submissions will be on exhibit at City Hall and at the Supervisor of Election’s Office. The best overall submission may be used in Collier County get-out-the-vote advertising.
